The short version
ALS flies, maintains and trains under approvals from the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority. It is registered under IATA’s Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), which it first passed in 2011. On top of that, most of our clients send their own auditors. The UN, the Red Cross, MSF and six energy companies have all been through our operation and approved it.

How we keep it safe

A safety management system built to ICAO standards. Everyone reports hazards and incidents, and we act on what they find.

Quality assurance. A separate department, led by KCAA-approved postholders, checks flight operations, maintenance and continuing airworthiness against our own procedures and the regulator’s.

Satellite tracking on every aircraft. It reports position, speed, altitude and heading as often as once a minute, and records every event to the second: master switch on, engine start, blocks off, take-off, landing, hard landings and excess g. An alert button sends the aircraft’s position to the people who need it, instantly. It takes the “search” out of search and rescue.

Training. Our own examiners, instructors and a training organisation, so standards are set in the same building they’re checked.
